雷蒙德·A·穆迪，世界知名的学者和科学家，先后取得了哲学和医学两个博士学位。他对伦理学，逻辑学和语言哲学方面颇有研究，后来兴趣转向医学，并决心做一名精神病学家，在此期间他注意到了濒死体验现象，然后就开始收集资料进行研究，《死亡回忆》便是他几十年研究的成果。
